April 14 –18 2018

Many thanks for your interest in joining this retreat. Here follows some useful information.
Location: The retreat will take place at Quinta de Santa Luzia, a traditional farm/estate on the island of Madeira (means island of wood -, near the center of
Funchal, which has belongedto the same family for seven generations ( or qtastaluzia). There’s plenty of space (3,5ha), the gardens are large, with a farm to wander through too, and a swimming pool. The weather will be mild at this time of year (around 17C).
About Gemma: Gemma Polo has been offering meditation retreats with “Open Dharma” for the last fifteen years around the world. Theologian, bee keeper, poet, mystic, and mother, Gemma lived in India for a decade and co-created “Dharmaloca”, an eco-retreat center in the sacred mountains of Montsant, Spain. With a wealth of experience from different spiritual practises such as contemplation, Zen, devotion and a deep connection with nature, Gemma holds and guides each individual to find her or his own whispers of the heart.
About the retreat: During the retreat, Gemma will encourage deep rest and a genuine inquiry from the heart. Bathing in noble silence, and with thebeauty and power of practicing together as a group, the days will include guided and silent meditations, connected walks and movement, inspiring talks by Gemma, one-to-one meetings, honest group sharing and singing meditation.

people. Each room has an en-suite bathroom.
Food: We will be offering vegetarian meals, with as much organic and
regional/Quinta produce as possible, and are happy to cater for any food
allergies or dietary requirements.
Dana or generosity in Sanskrit: This comes from the ancient tradition of
offering teachings of liberation on a generosity basis. This means that Gemma
will not be charging for her time as a teacher, rather you are asked to give
according to your heart. It is an opportunity to give freely in order to receive
freely, without condition of status, age, gender and so on, it is a revolutionary
(at least in this modern day) way of offering something, that calls less for the
mind to calculate but more for the heart to act, to bring forth that which it
feels free to give.
Gemma lives her life on dana, so please come prepared to support her
ongoing wish to share these priceless teachings.
